🔧 What You’ll Do

As part of our vessel maintenance team, you’ll perform repairs, maintenance and inspection work on tugboats and barges as directed by the Port Engineer.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Diesel engine maintenance and repair
  • Working on marine electronics and vessel support systems
  • Fabrication and repair projects
  • Assisting with HVAC and plumbing-related maintenance
  • Using tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Working collaboratively to complete projects efficiently and safely

Experience or working knowledge in any of the following areas is highly valued:

  • Electrical systems
  • Marine electronics
  • Diesel engines and mechanical systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Rigging principles
  • HVAC systems
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Metal fabrication
  • Paint and refinishing work
  • Basic plumbing (threaded and crimp-style piping)

✅ What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Marine experience, including work and/or maintenance on tugs and barges, preferred
  • 5+ years of mechanical experience/knowledge performing diagnosis, repairs and maintenance on CAT, Detroit, and Cummins, preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Physically able to board tugs and barges
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Able to work independently with little guidance
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Commitment to safety and doing quality work
  • Willing and able to work overtime as directed by supervisor to meet operational demands
